The Junior Spartan Athletics

  • There are 3 Divisions: PK – K; 1st grade – 2nd grade and 3rd grade – 5th grade
  • Each season is broken up into 6 weeks. (Soccer, baseball/tee ball, flag football/cheer/volleyball, basketball/cheer)
  • Practices are at Bear Creek Park (corner of 1st Ave N and 60th St -2 blocks from school)  Typically after school, 3:45 – 4:45, however time subject to coach availability.
  • Transportation to practice – parents are in charge of pick up and drop off. If you are unable to transport, please let me know in advance, I can try to help by finding a helpful parent to transport your child. This is not always possible though.
  • Games are on Saturday mornings between 9 AM and Noon (1 hour). Younger divisions play early and older divisions play after, based on the number of teams and fields available. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early so we are able to start the games on the hour. Rain outs are added to the end of the season.

The Middle School Athletics

The Middle School Athletic program is a program that promotes the development of fundamental skills, Christian sportsmanship, and strives to be competitive with the intention of preparing our players for participation in high school. This is a great opportunity for students to get involved and enhance their experience at OSLS. All practices and games are after school. With the exception of the basketball season, ALL EVENTS are over by 5:00/5:30pm.
Each season consists of about 3 events (practices/games) per week with an end of season tournament. Some tournaments are out of town in places like Orlando, Ft Myers, and as far as Jacksonville. The seasons are approximately 8 – 12 weeks long. ALL EVENTS are over by 5:00/5:30pm.

What to expect:

  • Varsity level – Playing time is often determined by how well a player is prepared, which is assessed at practice. Winning is the goal as the end of season tournament seeding is based on the win/loss record. Each coach determines playing time differently which also means that every player may not see the playing field in every game. Varsity level pulls from the 5th – 8th grades.
  • Junior Varsity -Every player will play in every game although the playing time is determined by how well the player is prepared based on the performance in practice. Junior Varsity pulls from the 4th – 6th grades.
  • Practices and games are found on the season calendar
  • Transportation –  The school’s bus will usually transport students to practice and games. Occasionally parents are asked to help carpool if a bus is not available.

Coaches are needed!
Parents are needed to coach. There are discounts for parents who coach a team. If we do not have a coach, we cannot field a team for that age group. Please email doug.meissner@oursaviorfl.org for more info.

Games are played at:
